InveStoreDLM - Intelligent Data Management for the Enterprise

InveStoreDLM is software that provides powerful Data Lifecycle Management tools and policies to control the growth, storage and preservation of a wide range of data types. InveStoreDLM is hardware independent management software that allows you, the System Administrator, to design and deploy centrally-controlled data management rules throughout the corporation, or a single application.

InveStoreDLM serves as a single software solution to manage the migration of structured and unstructured data. It automatically transfers files by type (*.pdf, *. jpg, *,dat, etc.) or size, user, location, age, date and other criteria that you need to protect and archive from primary volumes to locations in secondary storage and/or archive, and transparently retrieves them upon request. In a network environment, data can be migrated from captive primary storage volumes to secondary tiers and beyond, helping to reduce the total cost of ownership for data while ensuring it remains safe, secure and immediately accessible.

Data Management for Small to Enterprise User Organizations

The introduction of tiered storage to your organization enables a superior cost effective and technologically smarter option due to the increases in disk and removable media capacities and substantial decreases in cost per megabyte of these primary, secondary and archive storage systems. Migrating certain files and projects to appropriate storage enables your organization to reduce the total cost of ownership of your datasets and the management of your storage infrastructure.

A tiered storage infrastructure requires the right balance of software, hardware and data management policies that enable the intelligent and proactive movement of data to and from storage tiers. InveStoreDLM is a data management system designed for ease of use and complete interoperability with multiple file systems.

How InveStoreDLM works

InveStoreDLM works by allowing you to deploy a set of policies for classifying and migrating data. These centrally configured policies can be enforced across the entire network or just one application, such as retention of critical regulated financial or medical information. InveStoreDLM is network-aware and data type independent so it allows for management by project, location, user, group, size, name, time and other customer defined attributes, making complex datasets easier to express in simple data management policies.

InveStoreDLM allows you to find data, allocate destinations, set rules and policies and run tasks – all from a single administrator interface that lets you manage your data from the inside, drilling down to information easily and swiftly. Files can then be stored according to business value, and retrieved seamlessly whenever policies are issued. Additionally, IT administrators can sweep their network for banned file types such as mp3 files, .WAV and .exe files, and take appropriate action.

Proactive Policy-Based Data Management

InveStoreDLM’s operation is simple yet very powerful. You set parameters in the following areas; the system performs your tasks automatically based on your defined schedule requirements and provides a complete history:

·      Sources to manage: You specify the locations to watch, such as servers, local drives, etc.

·      Destinations: You specify where the source data is to be Copied, Moved or Migrated to for review or protection by InveStore archive storage.

·      Rules: You specify what type of files to manage, the patterns (*.jpg, *.tif, *.doc, etc.), sizes (within your specified ranges), file dates (creation of before or after, age, etc.) and attribute state matching (read-only, Archive, system, hidden, migrated, DoNotMigrate, etc.)

·      Policies: You define how to handle the data, such as Copy, Move or Migrate. You can also create policies to gather statistics on locations, file types stored, storage space used, and other important information.

·      Tasks: You define when to automatically perform the data management policies you specified above.
